Pirates of the Caribbean: Tales of the Code: Wedlockedis a short filmdirected byJames Ward Byrkit, produced byLeora Glassand written byTed ElliottandTerry Rossio, withJerry Bruckheimerserving as executive producer. Theshort film starsJohn Vickery,Vanessa Branch, andLauren Maher.

Based on the Pirates of the Caribbeanfilm series,WedlockedfeaturedScarlettandGisellein what Byrkit called "a chance for the wenches to have their own wacky moment." The story was based on thePirate Code Bookandrecalled theoriginal Disneyland ride, primarily the well-knownauctionscene, while also conceived to be a prequel to the first film,The Curse of the Black Pearl, explaining just whyJack Sparrow'sboatis seen sinking at the start of the film and why the girls were so upset with him.

Tales of the Code: Wedlockedwas shot in late 2006, with sets constructed atWalt Disney Studiosthat were fresh from shooting the third film,At World's End. While working on the feature film as the conceptual consultant forGore Verbinski'sPiratestrilogy at the time, Jim Byrkit had the notion to make a short film; he envisioned something based on the Pirate Code and began working with writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossioto develop a script.

In 2011,Disney/Buena Vistaannounced that the home-video release of the fourth film,On Stranger Tides, would include the"Pirates of the Caribbean Four-Movie Collection," a 15-Disc packaging that includedWedlockedas a bonus feature. The set was originally released onOctober 18,2011, before becoming more widely available on theInternetlater.
